The car before the Sun Club they heard it. A terrifying scream came from outside the train. Then another, followed by another and then a chorus of awful screams. Jack and Moira peered out of the right-side window, trying to see something in the black. It should only be as dark as sunset, why is it…darker? The screaming stopped. There was an interminably long quiet.
A loud series of bangs hit the side of the car.
“Lemmeinlemmeinlemmin,” a man’s voice shrieked.
Moira recognized the voice, “That’s Ben! I’ll get him. Head to the pilot cabin, Jack. Figure out what’s wrong with the batteries.”
Jack nodded as Moira moved to the sliding door and heaved it open.
“Ben. Ben!” she shouted.
“Moira!” Ben’s hand guided him along the train. Something ran along his face, it looked dark and thick.
“What happened?”
“There’s something out here! Let me in…I’m sorry. I was wrong.” Moira had never known Ben to react like this. If he was scared, maybe they all should be.
“Of course, Ben, come in.” Moira held out her hand to help him into the safety of the Iron Sun, but Ben stopped moving, his mouth agape.
“Urhg…”
“Ben?”:
