I gotta be honest, there isn’t much to this one in terms of a story or reason. The long and the short of it is, I really like driving, my current job requires me to drive for seven to eight hours a day so when it first came up in a Discover Weekly I was like, “Hey! I know and like Assemblage 23 and Drive sounds like something relevant to me.”

The chorus is what really gets me:

‘Sometimes I drive, to run from all my demons

Sometimes I drive, so I can be alone

Sometimes I drive, to the see world in a different light

Sometimes I drive, for no reason at all’

These are all reasons I drive besides for work. For real. This song just put it into words. I enjoy getting in the car, putting on some tunes, picking a direction and just driving. Sadly, because of real life responsibilities, I never drive further than two hours away from home. Those two hours away from the house, it’s fun to pretend, as Bilbo Baggins said in The Hobbit, “I’m going on an adventure!”

Hop in your car, pick a direction, when you hit some open road turn this track on. It creates an air of introspection for me while I drive, maybe it can for you too. Enjoy!
